BAE Systems Australia, the country's most versatile defence and security company, have recently commissioned a DEA Global Performance 12.40.10 CMM for the measurement of JSF F-35 vertical tail components.

This latest CMM, manufactured by Hexagon Metrology, is one of the largest bridge style CMM's in the country and with a working volume of 1.2m x 4.0m x 1.0m will further enhance BAE's inspection capabilities.

The first shipset of parts from BAE Systems advanced manufacturing facility at Edinburgh Parks in South Australia was delivered to Marand's F-35 vertical tail fin assembly line in Victoria Earlier this year (May 2013).

Each shipset comprises around 30 complex titanium components of varying sizes that will form part of two vertical tails for each of more than 700 next generation Joint Strike Fighter jets.

BAE Systems latest CMM purchase further increases their existing measurement capabilities which curently includes five other Hexagon Metrology CMM's all supported by Hi-Tech Metrology
